firstly will riding a bike everyday for an hour or so (and eating healthily) reduce the size of my bum?
ive started cutting out junk food and reducing the size of my portions and i wanna start bike riding regularly.
If i ride my bike everyday for about an hour at a good pace how long will it be before i start seeing a difference to my size? im currently 9stone 2lbs, 5foot 7

You are so right. You need to diet in conjunction with exercise to have a dramatic effect on our weight. You cannot spot reduce, so you will lose weight all over your body at the same rate. Ypu will feel the toning effects of your efforts within two weeks.
You need to learn how to ride properly. You do not ride with a slow pedal cadence with too much pedal pressure. Rather, you spin the pedals at a rate of 70+ rpm with moderate pedal pressure. You use the gears to enable that. You ride the length of your ride with the same spin rate AND pedal pressure over the length of the ride.

What is considered moderate bike riding?

Ally
I ride my bike 45 min. everyday and am riding up and down hills. I have to work my legs pretty hard to get up the hills. I would think that this is moderate but am I right?
Answer
A heart rate monitor will tell you. A moderate pace is 70-80% of you max heart rate. You should be able to talk but not sing at a moderate pace. I like to climb hills so I can get stronger so I am way over my max heart rate and gasping for air by the time i reach the top. Pedaling at a high cadence 70-90 rpm's in a gear that is easy to spin will help keep your legs from getting tired.
