Answer
You need to watch your carbs. Look at the nutrition lables on the foods you eat. You need to eat small meals with snacks. Lots of fruits and vegies and lean meats. Stay away from fast food and processed food. East wheat bread instead of white and eat brown rice instead of white rice. Avoid foods high in starch as these turn to sugar (i.e. potatoes, corn).

Also, you need to workout at least 30 minutes a day. I ride my spin bike for 30 minutes each day. You will also firm up doing this. It burns more calories than walking. Just turn on the tv and ride. Keep in mind that muscle weighs about 3 times more than fat - so if you build muscle you may not lose weight on the scale, but you will lose inches.

Another great exercise which is acually noted as being the second best exercise for you is called Rebounding (exercising on a mini trampoline). Swimming is the best exercise. Walmart has a mini tramp for about $30.00 with a DVD. I bought one.

Good luck!

Ab work out?

buckeyebar

I have been doing 100 crunches in the morning and 100 before I go to bed, my stomach seems a lot tighter, Is that a sign of getting a good ab workout? also my little flab is still there when i breathe out you can tell its gotten a lot tighter from how my stomach sticks out just a tad bit yet tighter than it used to before with more fat on it. but its more of the side and the upper body I believe that has been getting the work out the most how do I get rid of the little flab of lower stomach? full sit ups?

Answer
The tightness you are feeling is the building of your abdominal but just doing crunches will not give you the results you want. if you have a little flab or fat you will not see the results. Cardio is key if you want to see the results. even if your not overweight or fat, that thin layer of fat coating your muscles could be very discouraging. However, if you just want stronger abdominals Cardio wont help you. Most people who really work on abs do so for the visual appearance of a strong stomach.
One thing to keep in mind though, building muscle is not burning fat. while you need to spend calories to gain muscle its not substantial enough to count as weight loss. The scientific average for losing body weight is 3500 calories per lb. this is not exact as each person is different but its a tool to get your head around what I mean. A decent muscle work out such as lifting weights intensively is only shown to burn about 300 calories in 30 minutes. so just doing sit ups wont show your results. Mix up some jogging or some bike riding into your regimen. If you have a gym membership available, the elliptical is a good low impact machine that burns calories like a torch. Group classes help pass the time. I am a spinner. If you have good instruction, spin can be really addicting. I would also recommend working all of your abs everyday. Men are designed to have weaker, lower abs so I would focus on working your lower abs up to the level of your upper-abs and obliques. Pilate's would be a good way to get a well rounded core body work out so you would even be working all or abs back and chest with some leg and arms thrown in. I will tell you Pilate's is not fun for most and is pretty intense. more than most anticipate. Good luck with your journey.

PS a great way to do ab workouts without a gym membership is get one of those large rubber balls people work out with. They have different sizes so get one that's appropriate for you, and maybe a DVD with a ab/ball work out you will be on your way to some healthy strong abs.
