best spinning bikes with computer image

I've got a Raleigh 73-1254-6, and it seems like I installed everything onto the bike properly + set up the tire size, and current time, but I don't know how to get the speedometer/ distance/ odometer, etc to start working... I lifted the bike and spun the wheel around to test to see if it would work, but it just shows a bunch of 0's. What should I do?

Make sure the magnet is passing closer to the end of the sensor and as close as possible without hitting.

Is there a way to replace the spoke piece on my bikes computer?

I just got a new computer for my bike (a cat one if it matters) and it came without the spoke piece thing that spins with the wheel.
Is there some makeshift way to put in a replacement for this thing, like a magnet and duct tape?
If not, can i buy just this one piece?
